Prof. David N. Mungai, Director WMI, presented two (2) graduands from the Wangari Maathai Institute during the 64th graduation ceremony held at the University of Nairobi on December 11, 2020.
The tree planting exercise was in response to a request by the Ministry of Education to set aside 10% of the University land for afforestation. The University Management tasked the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences to lead this noble initiative.
The Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies (WMI) was privileged to hold the first UoN@50 Webinar Series on Wednesday 23 September, 2020 from 2.00pm. Prof. Stephen Kiama, Vice Chancellor, University of Nairobi, officially opened the Webinar. In his remarks, Prof. Kiama pointed out that the WMI carries the legacy of the late Prof. Wangari Maathai.
Prof. Nyamasyo today donated several books with different environmental themes to the Institute’s library. He retired in June 2020 from the School of Biological Sciences, University of Nairobi. Prof. Nyamasyo has been lecturing at the Wangari Maathai Institute (WMI) since 2013. He taught Integrated Natural Resource Management and Integrated Environmental Management to our M.Sc. and PhD students, respectively. He also supervised several WMI Masters and PhD students since 2013.
University of Nairobi is offering 137 masters scholarships for the 2020/2021 academic year. The
applications are open only to applicants for the September 2020 intake.
Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria among other specific criteria by their respective
units.
