In a significant step toward environmental restoration, Viva 365 Insurance Brokers planted 20 indigenous trees at the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies (WMI) on May 17, 2025. The event marked Viva's adoption of a half-acre meditation site as part of the Landscape Repair and Transformation project (LANSRET), with a three-year commitment to maintain the area. This partnership addresses the challenge of invasive species that have threatened the institute's gardens.
On Labour Day, May 1, 2025, the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies (WMI), in collaboration with the Hearts of Green initiative, partnered with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in a symbolic tree-growing exercise at the DCI Headquarters, nestled in the heart of Karura Forest. The event was part of the Landscape Restoration and Tree Growing (LANSRET) programme a three-year initiative aimed at rehabilitating degraded landscapes and promoting environmental stewardship across Kenya.
The Wangari Maathai Institute (WMI) in partnership with Hearts of Green, and Pioneer Insurance, launched an ambitious tree-growing initiative under the Landscape Repair and Transformation Program (LANSRET) at the South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU).
WMI Masters class conducted Experiential Training Field Class (SLUSE) from 17th to 28th March, 2025 in Kibugu Location, Embu county. The community feedback meeting was held on 27th March 2025 at Kibugu Catholic Church. Present were Faculty of science and technology, Dean Leonida Kerubo and DVC AF&P Prof Jonah Kindiki, Chuka University. The field program involved WMI and Chuka University masters students. A total of 20 students participated.
