The Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies (WMI) was privileged to hold the first UoN@50 Webinar Series on Wednesday 23 September, 2020 from 2.00pm. Prof. Stephen Kiama, Vice Chancellor, University of Nairobi, officially opened the Webinar. In his remarks, Prof. Kiama pointed out that the WMI carries the legacy of the late Prof. Wangari Maathai.
The University of Nairobi was born on 1 July, 1970 and has therefore turned 50. The University Management has mandated several activities to be included in the golden jubilee celebrations at various levels. One of the activities is holding of webinars on research breakthroughs at the University of Nairobi as well as topical subjects involving local, national and global challenges and opportunities.
