Wangari Maathai Institute and University of Copenhagen organized celebration for Africa Environment and Wangari Maathai Day at Gatugi Primary school in Othaya, Nyeri. The celebration was held under the gigantic fig tree Ficus lutea signifying the value of trees in environment conservation.

It was a great honor for the University of Nairobi to be chosen as the host to launch the Rapid Adaptation Mainstreaming Program (RAMP) and screening of World Resource Institute (WRI's) stories on 8th Feb 2023 at Taifa hall
Participants from 13 Eastern African countries converged at the Wangari Maathai Institute for a 3 day training of trainers on the future of resilient food systems in Africa to promote digital climate-informed solutions (DCAS) as a tool to help tackle the growing impacts of climate change across the continent. The training is collaboration between the institute, The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) and the African Development Bank.

The Faculty of Science &Technology held a 2day workshop on index-based livestock insurance at the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies . The blended conference took place between January 25th -26th,2023.
The workshop aimed to further develop the research, learning and capacity development agenda around index-based livestock insurance concerning technical capacity, product quality, commercialization and pastoralist welfare.
