Wangari Maathai Institute participated in this year's celebration of the Wangari Maathai Day/Africa Environment Day that was held on March 3, 2021, at the Hon. Michuki Memorial Park. The event was organized in partnership with the Green Belt Movement (GBM), under the theme "Reimagining the Future: Clean and Green Cities for All". Key observances included the recognition of environmental champions from the Kenya Defense Forces and Kenya Forestry Service, Unveiling of the changing Faces competition winners by UN-Habitat, clean-up of the riparian area, guided eco-tours and exhibitions, and ceremonial tree planting.
