Exploring Collaboration between Wyss Academy Hub East Africa and Wangari Maathai Institute

"We are delighted to announce that Wyss Academy Hub East Africa Director Dr. Benson Okita was in Nairobi on 20th November 2023, to shake hands with the University of Nairobi,  Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama Gitahi on a collaboration agreement domiciled at Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies (WMI), University of Nairobi (UoN). The handshake marks the signing of a Collaborative Framework between the two institutions that will form the basis for collaboration in such areas as Biodiversity, Water, Climate Change, Sustainability  and Environmental Governance.
This important partnership with the University's Wangari Maathai Institute  for Peace and Environmental Studies, named after Nobel laureate Prof. Wangari Maathai, represents a milestone for the Wyss Academy for Nature (WA) in Kenya. It came about through the involvement of several people who saw the potential in finding innovative solutions for Kenya and the world, by merging the University of Nairobi's substantial and diverse expertise with the Wyss Academy's unique approach to translating knowledge into action. We would like to acknowledge the contributions toward this collaboration of Prof. Thuita Thenya (UoN) Director WMI, Prof. Dr. Margaret Owuor (WA) Wyss Academy for Nature, at the University of Bern, Christine Nyangweso (PhD student UoN).
