It was also highlighted that the Kenya Organic Food Festival and Exhibition (KOFFE) aims to create awareness on the importance of adopting an organic lifestyle. This is to ensure that Kenya as a country is producing safe, sufficient and nutritious food.

Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies (WMI), University of Nairobi co-hosted the 2nd Kenya Organic Food Festival and Exhibition (KOFFE). This important event was officiated by Prof. Rose Nyikal, Ag. Principal, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences who in her remarks, acknowledged the efforts of disseminating crucial information about healthy and organic food.

Professor David Mungai, Director WMI welcomed the stakeholders and gave a brief overview of the Institute. He also pointed out that WMI is currently working towards the establishment of an organic and herb garden that is meant to educate and benefit the community. Prof. R.G. Wahome, University of Nairobi and the Chairperson of Organic Consumers Alliance indicated the KOFFE will be a continual process to ensure that everyone in Kenya is informed on organic living besides facilitating the eradication of harmful farming practices that lead to cancer among other diseases stemming from the consumption of chemically produced food.

Key stakeholders present during the event included Ms Ann Mbugua, Bridges Organic Restaurant, Mr Francis AkivagaAfricert LTD, Mr Peter Mokaya, Organic Consumers Alliance and Mr Eustace Kiarie Executive Director Kenya Organic Agriculture Network among other dignitaries. Present at the exhibition area were farmers, other value addition companies and information experts.
