Online Registration, Orientation and Virtual Learning for 2020/2021 Academic Year

The 2020/2021 academic calendar is scheduled to commence on August 31, 2020. Following the disruption of normal face-to-face learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Senate approved the use of online platforms for teaching, supervision of students, and administration of examinations. Consequently, the Institute adopted these measures and shifted all its learning activities on various online platforms. Orientation of new students will, therefore, be conducted online from August 31, 2020.

Invitation to join live online International conference on Environmental factors and the COVID-19 Pandemic

The live online conference, titled “Climatological, Meteorological and Environmental factors in the COVID-19 Pandemic conference” will be held 4-6 August 2020, 900-1200 EDT/1300-1600 GMT or 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM local time. There are participants from six continents attending this meeting.

Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Fund – Postgraduate Scholarship: 2020/2021 Academic Year

The Gandhi Smarak Nidhi fund (GSNF) will offer a limited number of partial scholarships tenable at the University of Nairobi, for Masters Programmes during the 2020/2021 academic year.

Interested candidates are invited to apply/re-apply for the scholarship through our online application portal (https://gandhi.uonbi.ac.ke) from Monday, August 3, 2020. A non-refundable application fee of Kenya Shillings Two Thousand Only (KShs. 2,000.00) will be charged to be paid through MPESA services.

University of Nairobi is offering 137 masters scholarships for the 2020/2021 academic year. The
applications are open only to applicants for the September 2020 intake.

Vice Chancellor and the Head of Mission, Embassy of Portugal in Kenya Visit WMI

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama, on Friday 26th June, 2020, accompanied by the Head of Mission at the Embassy of Portugal in Kenya, Ms. Luisa Fragoso, visited the Institute. Accompanying the VC was the Principal, CAVS and Principal, CHSS. The aim of the visit was to show Ms. Fragoso the space and facilities which are available at the WMI for learning and research.

Prof. Stephen Kiama Gitahi installed as the 8th Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi

Prof. Stephen Kiama Gitahi was officially installed as the 8th Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi (UoN) on June 5, 2020 at a ceremony presided over by Dr. Vijoo Rattansi, Chancellor UoN. Prof. Kiama has a deep critical thinking and clear vision about individuals and institutions. With this rare gift, he has had a clear vision about what he always wanted to be, what he desired of others and where he wanted the university of Nairobi to be.
